Black and White

Joie Moring has nominated me to participate in a Black & White Photography Challenge in which nominees post one black & white image and nominate another to join the challenge each day for 5 days. So today I challenge the lovely Kenda-Lee Gaynham who has an amazing eye for detail, shape and value. For my first photo I'm sharing a bit of shell/rock/seaweed conglomerate I found on the beach and am holding at arms length.

Where 'screen time' meant taking photos
and urban noises were replaced by the call of quail
watching over their 7 tiny chicks

I've spent most of my summer painting the house (Jerry joined me last weekend to reach the high bits on the big ladder)

At the end of the each day, we head to the beach



or up the hill past fields of red and pink poppies

Other days we go sailing or gather neighbors for beach barbecues

Winter storms stripped beaches down the island and deposited piles on our beach. So many logs - some with gnarled roots and limbs, others straight as telephone poles, all weathered a silvery brown and smooth from their rolling journey across the water. What is their story? Where are they from and where are they going?

So glad they stopped by!
