The air smells crisp and clean
Flowers droop under the weight of a hundred tiny jewels
Trees, grass, shrubs drink their fill
I throw open the windows to breathe it all in
We almost set a record today for the longest run of dry days in May/June. In fact, Seattle is usually rainy at this time of year and we were only 11 minutes shy of the record! I love rain, the smell, feel, the way the world looks so fresh and green and have so many wonderful memories sitting round the fire with my family reading, talking, classical music on the stereo, my parents sipping wine... rainy days are cozy days.
I ran outside early this morning and looked behind to find my 8 year old with his camera at the ready!
it is not raining here - it is pouring down! strong winds, flooded streets...
ReplyDeletewere you and your son aiming for the same photograph?
Glad you got your rain back. We have had so much this Spring, but my dad was just telling me that it hadn't rained in Seattle for 28 days. I'm sure you have missed it since it has been so long.
ReplyDeleteThe trouble with west coast weather lately is that you never know what to wear - shorts or pants?
ReplyDeleteYour photographs really capture the beautiful things about our rainy weather. A glass of wine does sound good right now!

ReplyDeleteSummer rains are the BEST!!! The smell is the thing that gets me every time. And how lovely that your son already appreciates the opportunity to run out into the garden with his camera - testament to your creative example and encouragement no doubt! What is that flower in the second shot?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your lovely rainy day! :)
We've been getting all of your rain here in Idaho! It has been raining here every day for a month! It has been very strange, but my gardens are so happy! :D

Finally raining? Oh my goodness. You should live here in Michigan. We've had the wettest spring on record - and last night's storm alone caused widespread power outages and flash flooding over a 75 mile radius. Many of the people in my immediate area (including my mother in law) had no power most of the evening, and flooding in their basements. I think we here are all ready for one of those dry spells. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've got your rain back - what's Seattle without rain? Just another glorious city:). I love the photos, as usual, but really love the one of your son the best. The moment you have captured is priceless.
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos. I agree with Sandy, the one of your son is the best.
ReplyDeleteI love that your son beat you to the photos! Great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteThese are great!
Also, I noticed you have added some lovely new thing to your blog. You are one busy lady! Looks like you are into so many great things and are so creative! I love all the great blogs you listed as well, mutual blog friends :)
Have a wonderful week!
The rain can bring us such beauty...
ReplyDeleteHello ~ I found you at Kimmie's Art in Red Wagons and just had to say how much I admire your nature photography! I also Love rain, I think we may be getting your usual rain fall here in Virginia! We've had more rainy days than sun for the last couple of months which is a bit unusual! The photo of your 11 year old warms the heart, children learn so much by observing us, don't they!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. I'm learning about blogging and checking our sites. Your site is very well done.
