Come Into My Garden

Some color in my cutting garden

My husband designed and constructed the garden for me a year ago on Mother's Day. Now a plethora of blooms are surrounded by espaliered apple trees and grape arbors. Steps at the far end lead up to terraces with veggies, raspberries and blueberries.

Kitchen Garden

We finally took down the play system last winter and put it a new kitchen/cutting garden.

Turns out the soil is pure black gold (45 years of grass clippings and leaves piled here by the previous owner) and coupled with a perfect summer, created an amazing crop: zucchinis, cucumbers, peppers both hot and bell, tomatoes, beans, peas, cantaloupe, leeks, onions, grapevines, apples, blueberries... not to mention the flowers!

I know they are weeds...
But the flowers make me happy

Colors Fade

On this grey, blustery day, I'm looking back through photos of delicate blossoms, now battered by rain and wind.

The sun came out!

Flowers heavy with rain blink and stretch towards the warmth...

Me too.
